About my role
In this play, I play many roles, ranging from someone who disagreed with Nazrul, to a neutral third-party, to Nazrul’s friend. Gandhi was someone who disagreed with some of Nazrul’s beliefs, but agreed that the religious conflict between Hindus and Muslims must stop. D.L. Roy was a neutral third-party who helped narrate Nazrul’s life from the “other side” (heaven). The prison guard was also a neutral third-party, who did his job by punishing Nazrul and taking him to solitary confinment. Muzafar was Nazrul’s friend and Rafiz Ullah was a communist party member and Nazrul’s colleague who helped Nazrul write the Nabajug (a Bengali daily newspaper that was published from 1920-1944).
