About my role
Oliver Twist is a 16-year-old navigating the harsh realities of 1970s London. Set against the backdrop of the punk revolution, Oliver is a conflicted yet hopeful soul. While grappling with his moral struggles, he emerges as a watcher of the chaos around him, seeking love and belonging in a turbulent world. This unique interpretation brings a raw authenticity and rebellious edge to the classic character.
Audience Reviews
Madhira brings a winning pathos to Oliver, at times bringing to mind the silent movie actors of the ’20s; he doesn’t have much to say, but his face speaks volumes.
Ankit is a fine Oliver, he’s energetic, happy despite what he’s been through, and always looking for his happy ending. …generally I like his singing, he brings a fresh air to it, that and his hopefulness in songs like “Where is Love” and some added melancholy in “Who Will Buy?”
As Oliver himself, Ankit Madhira holds his own in a sea of powerhouse performers. …his presence as a scrappy, wide-eyed punk kid fits the bill.
