About my role
In this play, I play the role of Pericles, the Prince of Tyre. He instantly understands the meaning of the riddle that is set by King Anitochus and flees the city, as he would be killed for answering incorrectly and correctly. However, even after reaching his own city, he is advised to flee, as Anitochus would probably send men after him. So, Pericles sets sail. He first reaches Tarsus and helps end the famine there. Afterwards, he is shipwrecked, but is saved by fisherman from Pentapolis, where he wins the hand of Thaisa. After some time, Pericles decides to head home to Tyre. Unfortunately, a storm hits while they are at sea, and it seems that Thaisa dies during childbirth. Due to the storm, they stop at Tarsus, and Pericles leaves his daughter with the governor of Tarsus, before going to rule Tyre. Years later, Pericles returns to Tarsus for his daughter. Unfortunately, he is told that she has died. In his grief, he reaches Mytilene, where he meets his daughter, Marina. Afterwards, the goddess Diana tells him where he can find his wife, Thaisa. Later, Marina marries Lysimachus, the governor of Mytilene – due to whom Pericles was able to reunite with his family.
